The book is in fantastic shape and has gold leaf edges and the front cover has a fully color embossing of a woman holding a sword and a shield with the German eagle. The inside page which was blank at the time of printing in 1893, has been meticulously hand decorated in memory of a German Soldier named Fritz Herrmann killed September 5 in the Somme. The other page has a very skillfully written note stating the book is from Fritz's mother on Christmas in 1916 in the memory of Fritz. The book is in fantastic shape and only has light wear on the covers. It is not missing any pages, no rips or tears and the binding is absolutely solid. Its a beautiful and profound addition to any German WW1 collection. Its a beautiful book to display in any library. It measures 5 5/8 x 4" and has 188 pages.
