Product Code: GOEP-00002 Price: Check Latest This is a fantastic original photo album for an Unterscharführer who served in a medical unit in 3rd SS-Totenkopf. There are 342 pictures total, including some of the Demyansk Pocket and some of the invasion of France. The photos are unpublished. There are many good pictures of various Waffen-SS uniforms and of the conditions of service during the terrible battles for the Demyansk Pocket in 1942-43. Casualties for the SS-Totenkopf division were severe during this battle and photo albums with a quantity of pictures from the battle are rare. The only reason this one was made was that the soldier was in a medical unit and was probably not a combatant as regularly as the other soldiers. This is a very important collection of photos. There are also pictures of the SS Totenkopf in France. Many subjects, including photos of SS soldiers in front of a Texaco sign. The album was probably put together by the veteran after the war as the photos from France are after the photos of Demyansk. It measures 11.5" x 13" and the outside cover is made from a thick ersatz paper that might be original gas sheet paper material that was cut up and used for civilian purposes after the war. This is a very nice album!
