RESTOCKED and improved. I have used a natural brown finish on this production and they look much closer to an unissued original than our previous production which was a darker brown finish. Since making the first run of these years ago, the usual suspects in Germany and overseas are aging them up and ripping off anyone they can with these... A new reproduction made exclusively for Ostfront Militaria. This is a excellent reproduction of the rare sight cover used on the rear site of Mauser 98k rifles. This is referenced as being a sniper accessory in a few reference books including Volume 3 of Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army by Angolia, Page 298. This is a high quality reproduction patterned right off an original I was able to purchase years ago from a private collection. (YES, the original also had brass rivits holding on the metal hardware....) It is made from natural brown leather and has steel hardware. It is marked with a correct reproduction date, 3 letter code and reproduction waffenampt. The numbers on the waffenampt correspond exactly to this 3 letter code and the date. This is a fantastic accessory for the 98K collector, WW2 living historian, or German WW2 collector. This is not one of the reproductions being sold as ORIGINAL that are coming from Europe.
